Making Face: Eye Makeup For Brown Eyes

Brown is the most predominant eye color, and also the most neutral in terms of what colors you can use.  Because of this, a lot of the color choice of eye makeup for brown eyes is up to you as far as what you like and feel comfortable with, and what goes best with your skin tone. Just the other day I was so tuned into a client’s eye tone that I chose a light and bright pink and smeared it on (silly for me since it’s my job and all) only to be appalled because the pink was too cool for her yellow skin. It was a little harajuku-girl scary but not in the cool/cute way. In that case, a more peachy pink was suitable because of the warmth of the added gold/orange in a peachier tone.

Bronzes, gold and charcoal eye makeup for brown eyes is a wonderful start for someone that doesn’t want to get into color too much.  A soft charcoal liner softly smudged with a bonze/copper shadow is a quick and gorgeous look for brown eyes.

To bring out those tiny flecks of color with eye makeup for brown eyes, use contrasting colors. Determining which tone to choose out of those colors depends on what shade your flecks are combined, again, with your skin tone.

Because it’s impossible to accurately describe every possible color shade in writing, use these guidelines and experiment. None of these rules are set in stone!

Green Flecks: Shadows with any red base. This includes burgundy, peach, and even purple. When choosing a brown or neutral shadow, find one that is more golden.

Red Flecks: Opposite of green, so anything that has green base. I like to find one that has a little metallic shimmer to add a little shine. Because it’s half green, try some blues too.

Grey Flecks: Choose cool tones like blues and purples and for something warm use pinks.

Gold/Yellow Flecks: Purples and blues contrast these flecks and help them become more vibrant. For a subtle effect, gold and peach will blend well.
