Making Face: Highlighting for the Holidays
Here come the holidays again. Ring out the bells again! Run, spend, click, wrap, cook, drive, fly, hug, and don’t forget to smile!
To-do lists with an ever-diminishing timetable and mounting family needs can really take the sparkle out of your holiday spirit. Using a highlighter will help accentuate your features and add a little flush to your blush to exude, at least in appearance, joyfulness.
Highlighter can be a lighter shade of foundation or concealer like Secret Camouflage by Laura Mercier, light shimmery powder like Albatross by Nars, or cream/liquid like All Over Shimmer by Stila. If you are very fair, you’ll want to choose a highlighter with a pink undertone and for tan tones a yellow undertone will work best. For very dark tones, a golden shimmer will be beautiful.
The following xx marks are places where a shimmering cream or powder highlighter can’t go wrong. Under your brow bone, the inner eye corner, and along the top of your cheekbone.

These xx marks indicate places were a touch of a lighter shade of foundation or concealer will help define the face. Taking on all is quite the professional undertaking, so I suggest choosing one or two to start with that best fits your needs. The easiest and most universal is the outer, under eye, which helps open your eyes. Along the jaw line, well blended, is great for those of us who have less definition in this area. Blending is very important with this. The forehead, chin, and nose highlight will bring the focus to the center of your face; your eyes and lips will draw more attention.
